£250m Center Parcs village will be “exemplary sustainable tourism destination”

A new £250 million Center Parcs village will be built to the «highest energy efficiency and sustainability standards», the British holiday parks group said.

Center Parcs confirmed today it will start construction on its fifth village at Woburn in Bedfordshire after its owner, Blackstone, committed to invest around £100 million of new cash equity into the business and lending was secured from RBS, Barclays, HSBC and Lloyds Banking Group. The holiday company said the investment would create 1500 new jobs and an «exemplary sustainable tourism destination».

Green Jobs: Builders to Use Green Technologies in 90% of Homes by 2016

According to SustainableBusiness.com, McGraw-Hill recently released a report that says home builders will use green technologies in 90% of homes by 2016. Additionally, 33% of builders said they will be committed to building green by 2016 – up from 17% today.

Remodelers are even more likely to incorporate green building strategies, according to the study. 34% of home remodelers said they expect to do mostly green work by 2016 – up from 150% from 2011.
