Día Mundial del Turismo Responsable 2013

Lo que más nos interesa desde el Centro Español de Turismo Responsable al celebrar este día, es inspirar otras muchas iniciativas como ésta, comunicarlas y generar una red de iniciativas en la misma línea

En el Día Mundial del Turismo Responsable2013 (promovido por la Coalición Internacional para el Turismo Responsable, y que celebra en España su 4ª edición),  es necesario recordar  que la inevitable preocupación de la industria turística por su supervivencia en mitad de las sucesivas crisis, no debe hacernos perder el norte; el norte  de la sostenibilidad, de la responsabilidad, de la globalidad y del largo plazo. Por ello hemos querido en este Día, compartir unas interesantes iniciativas de sostenibilidad ambiental y social ligadas a la actividad turística. Son iniciativas orientadas en positivo a  conocer y cambiar la relación del turismo con el medio ambiente y con el entorno social, centradas en diversas islas al ser éste el tema central de reflexión del Día  Mundial del Turismo Responsable 2013.

Caribbean States to Meet to Discuss Multi-Destination and Sustainable Tourism

Multi-Destination Tourism (MDT) is an issue of regional importance that will be discussed at the upcoming Meeting of the Special Committee on Sustainable Tourism of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS), according to BreakingTravelNews.com. The heads of different aspects and issues relating to tourism in the Caribbean will be discussing the best way to promote the Caribbean, both domestically and abroad.

En el año 2000 los 189 países miembros de Naciones Unidas acordaron conseguir para el 2015 el cumplimiento de 8 Objetivos, conocidos como los OBJETIVOS DEL DESARROLLO DEL MILENIO (ODM).
En lo particular el Turismo Sostenible atiende a 4 de los 8 ODM: (1) “Erradicar la pobreza extrema y el hambre”; (3) “Promover la igualdad de géneros y la auonomía de la mujer”; (7) “Garantizar el sustento del medio ambiente” y; (8)”Fomentar una asociación mundial para el desarrollo”.
En el año 2005 la OMT insta a sus países miembros sobre la forma más efectiva de poner el turismo al servicio de los ODM. a través de la declaración “EL TURISMO AL SERVICIO DE LOS ODM”

Multi-Destination Tourism to be discussed at sustainable tourism meeting

The issue of Multi-Destination Tourism (MDT) is one of regional importance that will be addressed at the upcoming 24th Meeting of the Special Committee on Sustainable Tourism of the Association of Caribbean States (ACS).

For over five years, the ACS, through its Directorate of Sustainable Tourism, has been engaged in the development of a Multi-Destination Tourism Program which seeks to facilitate dialogue and cooperation among the regional stakeholders in the tourism and transport sectors. The objective is to preserve the “Caribbean” destination market share in extra-regional markets and increase intra-regional tourist flows.

Qatar Tourism Authority engages UNWTO consultants in its drive towards sustainable tourism

Aligned with Qatar’s new tourism strategy, Qatar Tourism Authority (QTA) signed a 17-month agreement with the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) to develop the policies, regulations and strategies needed to take Qatar’s booming tourism into the future.

The agreement will see UNWTO update and create benchmarked processes within QTA. Based on international benchmark standards, the UNWTO and QTA shall develop a consistent and locally relevant monitoring and quality control system across the wide range of tourism activities described under Law 6 of 2012, described as the «Tourism Law.»
